In order to adapt operations to the current situation in the market with falling demand and intense pressure on prices, Stralfors has conducted an overhaul of its organisation in Ljungby. As a result, the company has issued notice of 60 redundancies.
Stralfors has reacted to the drop in demand, especially for printed matter relating to administrative communication, and to relentless downward pressure on prices by conducting an overhaul of the organisation at its facilities in Ljungby. As a result of the various measures that will be adopted to improve the efficiency of operations in Ljungby, the workforce there will need to be slimmed down.
“To cope with an increasingly tough market situation and deal with the economic downturn that is now unfolding, we must take a number of steps to improve efficiency,” says Per Samuelson, President of Stralfors. “It is, of course, extremely distressing to have to issue a forewarning of redundancies, but it is also our responsibility to make sure that we safeguard the company’s ability to compete. Although we face the prospect of harder times ahead, we can already see that the investments we have made to support our customers’ market communication have attracted new business during the year. This encourages us to see opportunities for a positive development of business further into the future.”
Negotiations have started with the trade unions concerned. Stralfors will investigate the opportunities for relocating employees. However, Stralfors believes that some job losses will be inevitable.
